Cary - #2 Middle Creek opened Tuesday night’s game scoring seven goals in the first nine minutes of the game en route to a 19-5 victory over #4 Green Hope. The Mustangs were lead by Junior attackman Owen Caputo (7g/3a), Senior Tanner Patrick (5g/1a), and Sophomore Graham Schwartz (91% fo).
The home team Mustangs jumped out early, scoring just 56 seconds into the game when Caputo turned the corner up the right side and finished over the Green Hope keeper's shoulder. 32 seconds later Patrick netted his first from a similar move. Middle Creek played make-it take-it for most of the next 7 minutes ringing home 5 more goals.
It wasn't until 3:02 left in the first that Green Hope was able to get on the board when Isaias Delgado scored on a fast-break goal. However, the Mustangs would answer just 11 seconds later when Schwartz won the face-off forward for a fast break and Patrick scored his fourth of the quarter to send his team into the first break with an 8-1.
From there Middle Creek never looked back. Schwartz dominated the second quarter face-offs, going 6-6, and allowing Middle Creek to extend its lead into halftime to 12-3.
Green Hope came out of the halftime and scored on a fast-break just 23 seconds into the period. Once again, however, Middle Creek answered just 8 seconds later with the first of a four goal run to extend their lead to 16-4. The Falcons would score again before the end of the third before Middle Creek closed the game on another 3-goal run.
Green Hope beat Panther Creek 16-8 on Wednesday and play Athens Drive Friday night.
The Mustangs return to action for another big match-up on Friday night against #5 Apex.
