Falcons Soar Over Capitals

By Arthur Kyner 03/07/2018

Raleigh, NC - On a cold and windy night at Broughton Stadium, it was #6 Green Hope's senior attack duo of Aiden Callahan and Jack Larkin who stole the show, as the Falcons cruised to a 15-8 win over #3 Broughton.

Green Hope struck first on a Jack Larkin goal at the 10:57 mark. The next few minutes were filled with sloppy play from both teams, created by poor field and weather conditions. The Capitals evened the score when Clay Schrum scored, unassisted, with 8:26 to go. AFter the Schrum score, Green Hope went on a 3 goal run with goals from Delgado, Callahan and Larkin.

Broughton came out firing in the first few minutes of the second quarter by scoring 2 goals in 20 seconds. The first goal came off a great drive and dump from Gordon Guest, as he found Clay Schrum unmarked in front of goal. Guest would then find the back of the net off a Van Parker assist following the face off after the Shrum goal. The Capital comeback was short lived with Jack Larkin adding 3 more goals. The senior attackman rode hard on clears all night and was able to give the Falcons easy opportunities as a result.

The majority of the second half was controlled by Green Hope, with Broughton never getting as close as they did in the first minute of the second quarter. Aiden Callahan added 2 goals and 2 helpers in the 3rd and Larkin added 2 more goals.

Broughton's points leader from last season, Van Parker, finished with 2 goals and an assist. Green Hope's Larkin finished with 6 goals and 1 assist, while Calahan tallied 4 goals and 3 assists.

Both squads play next this Friday, with Green Hope playing away at Riverside and Broughton playing conference rival Enloe.
