Week 2 of the 2018 season has wrapped up. With most games getting played this week we had a lot of moving and shaking in the polls. This week will certainly be weather-plagued as well.
10. Broughton Capitals (2-2) [4]
The Capitals drop 6 spots in this week poll after splitting the week against Green Hope and Enloe. Broughton has every chance to vault back up the polls in week 3 with two top-10 matchups in East Chapel Hill and conference foe Cardinal Gibbons. With a tough Leesville team in there too.
9. Athens Drive (5-0) [NR]
The have been hot this year, lead by Junior attackman Reid Koonce's 31 points (25g/5a). Their game against Enloe was canceled due to weather. They have no scheduled games this week. Athens is scheduled to play Riverside this week. They will be tested for real in week 4.
8. Holly Springs Golden Hawks (2-0) [8]
The Golden Hawks pulled off a win against visiting New Bern last week. Their game against #1 Middle Creek was rescheduled to this week. That makes a big week bigger for HSHS. They now have 3 conference games on the slate: Jack Britt, Middle Creek, and Apex.
7. Millbrook (3-0) [NR]
The Wildcats are off to a quick start in 2018. They have gone 3-0 in Cap-7 play leading into what could be a program defining week. They take on Cardinal Gibbons and Sanderson. Two wins would give them a firm hold on 1st place early in the season.
6. East Chapel Hill (3-0) [5]
East won both of its games last week against Heritage and Orange. The Cats will look to add a couple more wins with games against #10 Broughton and Apex Friendship.
5. Durham Academy Cavaliers (2-1) [10]
The Cavaliers came out of the gates ready to play in 2018. After falling in the last minute to Christ School (15-14) they beat Charlotte Latin (14-11) and Cary Christian (14-5). Scoring hasn't been an issue for the Cavs so far this year. Senior Tyler Carpenter had a big week (14g/11a/40gb/14CT). DA is off in week 3.
4. Green Hope Falcons (3-0) [6]
Green Hope was lead by their attack duo of Aiden Callahan and Jack Larkin again in week 2. The pair combined for 43 points in the Falcons 3 wins, including 15 against then #4 Broughton. This week Green Hope faces off against Panther Creek and Jordan.
3. Apex Cougars (2-1) [3]
The Cougars split their weekend double header in week 2 defeating conference foe Fuquay-Varina and losing to Centennial(GA) in the King of Spring tournament. This week Apex plays Apex Friendship and #8 Holly Springs.
2. Cardinal Gibbons (2-1) [2]
Gibbons won their game against Sanderson to stay undefeated in conference play. They square of against #7 Millbrook and #10 Broughton this week.
1. Middle Creek Mustangs (4-0) [1]
Middle Creek extended its winning streak to 26 games after defeating defending GA state champ Lassiter on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs will play 3 conference games this week: Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, and Jack Britt.
