Raleigh - In a back and forth game of runs, it was the Jordan Falcons who came out with an exciting 14-13 overtime victory against Athens Drive on Wednesday night. Sophomore Jack Perry scored the game winner just as the first overtime was expiring.
Fans who sat through the cold and wind were treated to an energetic, back and forth battle that came down to the last second, twice.
The Jaguars and Falcons entered the fourth quarter tied at 10. Early in period the teams traded goals quickly. Yasir Stroud scored first for Jordan. Bobby Padden answered just 11 seconds later, and again a minute later to take a 12-11 lead.
Jared Halverson netted his ninth of the game with 6:38 to go on an assist from Mason Perry to tie the game at 12.
Bobby Padden appeared to score the game winner when he scored with just 14.1 seconds to go. However, the Falcons would win the ensuing face-off and call time out with 11.6 seconds remaining. Out of the timeout Jordan executed a perfect play that ended with Halverson finishing his tenth goal of the game with only .5 seconds to go on the game clock.
In the extra period Athens Drive found itself on the defensive for most of the time. Three saves by Senior Ricky Waller helped keep the Jaguars alive, even though a man-down situation. Ultimately, however, Jack Perry was able to slice his way down the middle and score the game winner, just as time expired in overtime.
