Team 91 Announces merger with Carolina Cannons Lacrosse Club

Team 91 Lacrosse, one of the nation’s premier youth and high school select club teams has announced that beginning August 2017, it will be expanding operations to North Carolina. Team 91 Directors and trainers will be bringing their extensive knowledge of the game as well as the organizational skills that have helped him build one of the most robust and detail oriented educational lacrosse camps in the country. The merge with the Carolina Cannons will take place after their summer season ends this July.

Team 91 Carolina will include all of the same aspects that make their Long Island, Maryland, Texas, California and Westchester, NY affiliates unique; an educational commitment to both field lacrosse & box lacrosse, top-tier coaching staffs, convenient facilities, access to some of the most competitive tournaments and showcases in the country and of course, the newest gear on the club circuit. Based out of Raleigh-Durham- Chapel Hill, Team 91 Carolina is open to any and all players.

"We could not be more excited to be working with Carolina Cannons Directors and Founders Chip Mayer, Chad Watson and Jon Lantzy," said Team 91 Founder Brian Spallina. He added, "The Cannons have built a reputation in North Carolina as a truly elite club. The coaching staffs that have been assembled have added tremendous credibility to the club and prepared the teams to play a national tournament schedule. With our connections to tournament operators, Team 91 Carolina should be able to balance a competitive regional schedule as well as a national showcase schedule that will challenge the players but also provide the exposure the players are most deserving of. We’ve spoken to so many North Carolina based players and coaches over the past few years and we truly think that this is going to be a game changing partnership. Considering the foundation the Cannons founders have provided, we could not be more excited."

"We have been long time friends and partners with the Team 91 organization and have admired the passion and experience that they have shared with their families. We feel this partnership will provide added training, coaching and exposure to the Cannons' players, all things our families have been asking for over the years. This is the next step in solidifying the Carolina Cannons/ Team 91 Carolina as the premiere lacrosse club in the southeast." Chad Watson- Director – Carolina Canons .

Chip Mayer Director of Cannons Coaching added, "The Carolina Cannons has a long and rich history of producing some of the best players in the south. What has set us apart is our incredible group of coaches. With the resources and experience Team 91 brings to table, we are excited to take the game to a whole new level in North Carolina by providing our coaches and players with everything they need."

One of the biggest differences going forward will be the inclusion of the Team 91 training curriculum that includes an emphasis on positional techniques, box lacrosse training and team strategy education. Opportunities will be open to all players in our club to train with our local staff as well as our national directors. Players will also be eligible for national camps and showcases through our various affiliations.

Team 91 Carolina tryouts will take place on August 5-6 and August 12-13 at Cedar Falls Park in Chapel Hill, NC.
